BILBAO, Spain - Sep 16, 2026 - You’re in the middle of a ritual to summon the Goddess of Death, when the villagers come charging toward your sanctuary to stop you. Your defenses are barely holding, and you need more arcane energy to hold the mob back, but there’s only one way to get it: draw another rune. They’re already at the door. Can you draw the next rune before they break through?
Developer TLR Games and publisher Joystick Ventures is excited to announced that Runeomicon, the dark fantasy tower-defense game where you play the villain, is out now on PC via Steam. Draw runes in real time to generate arcane energy, use that power to cast spells, summon eldritch creatures, strengthen your defenses, and complete the ritual to summon the ancient gods.
In Runeomicon, you’re the villain. After villagers destroy their family, a wizard turns to the ancient Runeomicon, a dark book of spells and rituals, and embarks on the quest to summon Ilur, the Goddess of Death, and exact their revenge.
The rune-drawing mechanic is at the center of every ritual. The game features five levels of runes to master, each more complex than the last and demanding greater precision and speed. With the villagers continuing to advance while you draw, even a small mistake can give them the time they need to break through your defenses. With practice, what starts as frantic rune drawing becomes muscle memory.
As the ritual progresses, players will face pesky villagers, priests, knights, and other enemies, along with bosses and challenges that test their skills. As the waves of enemies grow stronger, players must adapt their defenses to hold them back, using towers, spells, eldritch creatures, and more upgrades to keep the ritual going until the end.
The campaign takes players through seven worlds, where they’ll learn to summon six ancient gods and unlock new ways to approach each ritual. Once awakened, gods can be selected from altars across the world map and brought into future rituals, allowing players to change their strategy as they progress.
Between rituals, players can return to the wizard’s lair to practice runes, purchase permanent upgrades, uncover the lore of the ancient gods, and unlock additional ability runes through challenges.
